Hello, I'm Hanna, the writer and illustrator behind nana hanana.

A decade ago I left Korea and have been building a life in the US ever since: Michigan first, then New York, Philadelphia, and now California. Each place taught me something I didn't know I needed to learn.

nana hanana is where I put what I'm still figuring out. Some pieces come from a moment I couldn't stop thinking about: a line my father said on a lakeside walk, the strange beauty of a summer that was also a season of loss. Others exist just because something made me happy and I needed to draw it.

The drawings catch your eye in three seconds. The essays are slower. They ask you to sit with something for a while.

If something here lingers a little longer than you expected,
I'm glad we found each other.
